The Family of Advanced Cost Estimating Tools (FACET) is the embodiment of a highly advanced set of cost estimating algorithms, giving the capability to rapidly evaluate equipment and systems parameters to enable subsequent whole life costs to be established where it matters most, at the very dawn of the project life cycle.

Through a new approach to "top-down" methodologies and using Bayesian techniques; FACET efficiently employs whatever information is available at the time of making the estimate, whether certain or uncertain, and whether the information relates to performance requirements, or characteristics of design intended to meet these.

This new and successful methodology is embodied in the FACET series of models and is being successfully used by government agencies and the defence industry within the UK and overseas.
