Disposal
In
many instances, disposal of defence material
poses no special problems and can be dealt with
by means usual for disposal within the wider
economy from whence costs (and/or receipts for
scrap) can be obtained readily.
Where problems peculiar to defence do arise
(e.g. with disposal of munitions or other especially
hazardous material) these involve usually the
construction and operation of specialised plants
for that purpose.
Such plants are required commonly for a range
of defence equipment types. Hence, their provision
is treated best not as and adjunct to any one
design but as projects in their own right.
